How to Measure Your Nails for Press-On Nails at Home (Easy & Accurate Methods)

Method 1: Measure Using a Soft Ruler

How to Measure your Nails Method 1: Using soft ruler

Step 1: Use a soft, flexible measuring tape (like one used for tailoring) to measure the widest part of each nail bed, typically across the center of the nail.

Step 2: Write down the width of each of your 10 nails in millimeters. If you're measuring in centimeters, multiply by 10 to convert the value into millimeters for accuracy.

Step 3: When placing your order, enter all 10 nail widths (in millimeters) in the "Personalization" box or send them to Emily@nailgaze.com along with your order number.

👉 Please avoid decimals. If your measurement is, for example, 15.5mm, round it up to 16mm for the best fit.

🧷 Method 2: No Soft Ruler? No Worries!

If you don’t have a flexible measuring tape, you can still measure your nails accurately using clear tape and a standard hard ruler. Just follow these steps:

How to Measure your Nails Method 2 using hard ruler

Step 1: Place a strip of transparent tape over your nail, making sure it's smooth and wrinkle-free. Press the tape down along the nail’s side walls to capture the full width.

Step 2: Using a pen or fine-tip marker, make two small marks where the tape meets the widest points of your nail — typically where it curves into the sidewalls.

Step 3: Remove the tape carefully and stick it onto a flat surface (like paper or a table). Measure the distance between the two marks using a regular ruler, in millimeters.

Step 4: Do this for all 10 nails, and write down each measurement. These details are essential for creating a custom-fit set.

📧 Once done, send your measurements (in millimeters, no decimals) to Emily@nailgaze.com along with your order number.
Example: if you measure 15.5mm, please round up to 16mm.

📸 Method 3: The Dollar Bill Photo Trick (No Measuring Tools Needed!)

No ruler? No tape? No problem! You can still get your nail sizes using just a U.S. dollar bill and your phone. Here's how:

Step 1: Set It Up
Place your hand flat on a surface, palm down, with all fingers clearly visible. Lay a U.S. dollar bill next to your hand as a size reference.

Step 2: Snap a Clear Photo
Take a top-down photo (directly above) of your fingers and the bill. Make sure both ends of the bill are visible in the frame so we can scale it correctly.

Step 3: Capture Your Thumb
Repeat the process for your thumb by laying it flat and taking a separate photo.

Step 4: Don’t Forget the Other Hand
Now do the same steps for your opposite hand. Even slight size differences matter for a perfect fit.

Step 5: Email & Let Us Know
Send all your photos to Emily@nailgaze.com and mention in the “Personalization” section during checkout that you've submitted sizing images.

💡 This method allows us to accurately determine your nail measurements and create a custom-fitted set just for you!
